Areas of Practice: Civil Litigation, Insurance Law, Construction Law, Commercial Litigation, Bankruptcy and Insolvency, Intellectual Property Litigation Eric very much enjoys the team approach at Hamilton | Appotive and feels his ability to inspire confidence in clients and attain cost-effective results are two of his most valuable contributions to the practice. Eric graduated from Carleton University in 1975 with a bachelor of arts degree and from the University of Ottawa Law School in 1978 with an honours LL.B. He was called to the Bar at Osgoode Hall in 1980, commenced practice that same year, and joined Hamilton | Appotive as a senior partner in 1985. Certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Civil Litigation, Eric also holds various advanced alternative dispute resolution designations. He is a member of the Medical-Legal Society of Ottawa-Carleton (past president), Canadian Defence Lawyers, the Ottawa and Canadian Homebuilders Associations, the Ontario Bar Association, the Carleton County Law Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada. In his spare time, Eric pursues various sporting endeavours and enjoys outdoor activities. He also lectures and leads seminars for continuing education programs at the University of Ottawa Law School and the Advocates Society. He is very active in the community and has volunteered with many charitable organizations.
